Thank You, 1,300 Dubai Residents

I didn't expect this project to matter to so many people.

I enjoy building and testing ideas quietly, without expectations or outcomes in mind.

A few months ago, as another quiet weekend project, I built a simple smart parking utility for Dubai residents. I worked on it during nights and weekends purely as a learning exercise, without any expectations. After publishing it on the App Store, there was little to no response, and I moved on.

Two weeks ago, I received a usage report from Apple. Out of curiosity, I logged in and was surprised to see that more than 1,200 people were actively using the app every day to manage their parking. Today, that number is close to 1,300 Dubai residents using it almost daily.

What stood out to me wasn't the number. It was the intent behind the usage. People were using it to solve a real, everyday inconvenience.

That motivated me to continue improving the experience. I added features I personally care about, such as motion-based detection when you park, and a simple "find my car" experience designed to help navigate large mall parking areas. Anyone who has parked in a big mall in Dubai knows how valuable that can be.

One moment I'm especially grateful for was receiving Apple CarPlay entitlement. Very few apps in the UAE have access to CarPlay, and achieving this as a solo personal project was both humbling and encouraging.

This remains a personal learning project and a small contribution toward making everyday experiences in Dubai a little more convenient. Hearing that users avoided parking fines and unnecessary stress because of it makes every late night and weekend worth it.
